OUR PERUVIAN PASO HORSE

The best seat in the world

Everyone who has ridden a Peruvian Paso horse agrees: there is no breed in the world with such exceptional qualities.

Privileged Genetics

The Peruvian Paso horse is the result of 500 years of natural and functional selection. It descends from horses introduced during the Conquest. Its genetic heritage combines traits from Berber and Andalusian horses. From the Berber horse, it retains endurance and tendency towards ambling. The Andalusian breed is the origin of its proud gait and elevated movements. The Peruvian Paso horse has a good temperament, is dedicated and very noble.

A Smooth and Rhythmic Gait

Horses have two distinct ways of walking before beginning to gallop: trotting or ambling. In trotting, forward movement is achieved through diagonal limb movement. Ambling is more comfortable than trotting for the rider, but the movement remains abrupt. The Peruvian Paso horse breaks this 2-beat amble by supporting one limb a fraction of a second before the other lateral limb. This is known as the four-beat paso llano.
